Barbaresco DOCG was the first wine in Italy to have the Additional Geographical Indications recognized by law in its own disciplinary of production.
February 21, 2022 is an important day for Barbaresco: it marks the anniversary of the new Barbaresco production Discipline, Defined by law by the Italian Parliament on 21 February 2007, containing the additional Geographical Indications.
Barbaresco was the first wine in Italy to be able to boast of this honor: the entire production area was divided into individual portions, The Commission has been working on this.
Today there are 66 geographical indications (MGA) and they constitute the DNA of Barbaresco, clearly defining for each area the geographical, geological and organoleptic characteristics. The indication of the single Mention may appear on the label together with the DOCG name.
Cartographer Alessandro Masnaghetti, in collaboration with the Consorzio di Tutela Barolo and Barbaresco and the Enoteca Regionale del Barbaresco, has created the map dedicated to the graphic representation of the MGA, a real "Bible" for fans.
