The Pio Cesare company was founded in 1881 (the only winery still in operation today in the center of Alba), founded by the entrepreneur Pio Cesare, who was attracted by the idea of producing for himself and his customers a small and select quantity of wines from the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco. His son Giuseppe took over the management of the winery at the beginning of the 20th century, continuing his father's business, with investments in the winery and a strong entrepreneurial spirit on the commercial level. Today the fifth generation of the family is at the helm of the company, represented by Federica Rosy Boffa, daughter of Pio Boffa, and Cesare Boffa, grandson of Pio.
