In the second half of the 19th century, Giovanni Minuto already owned vineyards in the municipality of Barbaresco, but the winemaking of the grapes, by his son Luigi, began only in 1913. In 1952, the company was divided between Luigi's sons, Lorenzo and Mario: the latter inherited the Moccagatta farmhouse, from which the winery takes its name. Today, cousins Martina and Stefano Minuto continue the work of their respective fathers Sergio and Francesco and grandfather Mario.
